Deputy Finance Minister Confirms No New Taxes or Increases in the 2026 Fiscal Package

Deputy Minister of Finance Endrit Yzeiraj stated that the new fiscal package introduces no new taxes or tax increases for citizens or businesses. Instead, it consists of a series of reforms aimed at formalizing the economy.
“There are no new taxes or tax increases. All elements of the fiscal package are continuously discussed with the European Commission and represent innovations designed to create opportunities and incentives for individuals. There is a new property revaluation initiative for those who wish to sell their properties, as well as new measures to reduce cash circulation and promote electronic payments in the economy,” said Yzeiraj.
Regarding the fiscal amnesty, Yzeiraj explained,
“Tax obligations older than ten years will be forgiven. Liabilities from five to ten years ago can be reduced if paid within a specific timeframe, as can obligations from one to five years ago. Additionally, businesses that declare a profit 18% higher than last year will have any profit beyond that threshold taxed at 5%. This is a way to encourage individuals to declare their actual income.”
The Deputy Minister also addressed the minimum wage increase, stating:
“Our goal is to have a minimum wage of 500 euros by January 2026, and we hope it will reach 700 euros by the end of this mandate for both public and private sector employees. This is an additional measure to support vulnerable groups and those working in demanding professions. That’s why this budget focuses on social well-being.”
