State Police Discusses Internal Reorganization and Modernization Process
Today, a meeting was held at the General Directorate of the State Police between senior State Police leaders, program and project directors assisting the institution, and liaison police officers from Albania.
The meeting aimed to share information about the State Police’s internal reorganization, in support of Law No. 82/2024 “On the State Police,” and in accordance with the legal obligation to adapt police structures to combat new, advanced, and dynamic forms of crime effectively.
During the meeting, the General Director of the State Police, Major Director Ilir Proda, thanked the attendees and emphasized:
“This is a meaningful moment and an important decision on the path to modernizing and strengthening the State Police, making them more efficient in serving citizens and fighting crime.
The reforms we are undertaking are not merely structural changes, but rather a transformation in the way the State Police operates. Our clear goal is to strengthen professional capacities, improve responses to new security challenges, and ensure a police service that is closer to, more transparent to, and more accountable to citizens.
I highly value this opportunity to present and discuss this process with our international partners because the State Police has always been open to barrier-free cooperation, idea exchange, shared experiences, and joint contributions.
I strongly believe that success in addressing security challenges is collective, not individual. It is built upon trust, coordination, and sustainable partnerships.
Thank you all for your continued support and concrete contributions to the modernization of the State Police.”
Director Anisa Duçkollari of the Directorate of Human Resources presented the new structure and outlined the proposed changes in each department.
The Director of the Criminal Police Department, Senior Director Neritan Nallbati, informed the partners of the reasons for the changes within his department. The goal is to transform it into a more efficient structure to combat organized and transnational crime.
Representatives of the missions and liaison officers expressed satisfaction with the meeting and explanatory material on the structural changes. They also conveyed their readiness to actively contribute ideas and suggestions to the ongoing process of modernizing the State Police’s structures.
