Director General of the State Police at Interpol’s 93rd General Assembly
The Director General of the State Police, Major Ilir Proda, participated in Interpol’s 93^(rd) General Assembly, which was held in Marrakesh, Morocco, and attended by police leaders from 196 countries.
During his visit, accompanied by Senior Director Pëllumb Seferi and Director Ulian Shpataraku, Director Proda held bilateral meetings with his counterparts, including the Italian Director General of Public Security, Prefect Vittorio Pisani, and the Turkish delegation led by the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Munir Karaloglu.
These sessions highlighted the success of the Albanian Police in combating organised crime, as well as their involvement in international operations. There was positive feedback regarding their professionalism and reliability.
Those present at the talks emphasised that the Albanian Police are reliable partners and expressed a desire to increase cooperation in tackling international crime by setting up joint investigative teams.
The 93rd Interpol General Assembly concluded with the election of a new president, Lucas Philippe; a new vice president for Asia; and new delegates for Africa, Asia and Europe. New members of the Executive Committee were also elected. The committee is responsible for providing strategic guidance and overseeing the decisions of the Assembly.
