Government Approves New Rules for Energy Labeling of Products
The Council of Ministers approved several acts proposed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, including new labeling rules for energy-related products.
According to the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, the purpose of the act is to unify the existing framework by replacing the previously fragmented regulation of electrical appliance labeling. According to Karakaçi, this concerns products classified according to European Union standards, where category A represents the lowest level of energy consumption.
The decision includes around 17 regulations and a detailed list of products that will be subject to mandatory labeling in accordance with EU standards. This mechanism aims to provide consumers with comprehensive, integrated information on products’ energy impact, guiding them toward more efficient choices and encouraging reduced electricity consumption.
The minister emphasized that this act is part of the obligations of the European integration process and is included in the European Union Growth Plan. The plan provides financial support for implementing the respective measures.
At the same meeting, the government approved a list of expropriations to ensure continued strategic investment in infrastructure and energy. This includes creating conditions for constructing a 400-kilovolt substation in Fier, advancing work on Corridor VIII, and developing the Porto Romano port project in collaboration with the Durrës Port Authority.
