Minister Demo Announces €20 Million Grant for Municipalities and National Parking Program to Improve Infrastructure and Urban Spaces

The government has announced a €20 million grant for municipalities across the country and the launch of the National Parking Program. These two initiatives are aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing quality of life at the local level.

Ervin Demo, the Minister of State for Local Government, stated that the United Arab Emirates has provided the grant, which will be accompanied by the necessary logistical equipment for municipalities. According to Demo, these investments will help mitigate the effects of climate change and improve infrastructure, particularly in rural areas.
At the same time, the government introduced the National Parking Program, which primarily focuses on urban areas and municipalities with high tourist traffic. The program aims to assess existing capacities and create new parking spaces, potentially in cooperation with the private sector. This initiative is expected to improve city functionality and quality of life by addressing a key urban challenge.
As part of ongoing local development policies, the minister announced that four additional municipalities were approved under the priority areas of the “Mountains Package.” He noted that the strong interest from local authorities and citizens reflects the importance of this initiative for the economic and social development of these territories.
