Retro Park to Drive Tourism and Economic Development in Bulqiza
The “Retro Park” project in Bulqiza is an innovative initiative spanning approximately 11 hectares. It aims to transform degraded public spaces from the previous regime into a distinctive tourist and social destination.
Currently under development, the park is expected to stimulate economic growth in Bulqiza by promoting the area’s natural and tourism potential.
In this context, Retro Park will offer integrated spaces for a market, small artisan workshops, a children’s playground, an information point, a hospitality center, hotels, and visitor parking. Located along Arbër Road, the park is designed to serve as an attraction and stopover point for the growing number of tourists heading toward Dibra.
Prime Minister Edi Rama began his tour of Bulqiza by inspecting the construction progress at the “Retro Park” site.
Dritan Agolli, the Director of the Albanian Development Fund, presented the project’s main components, emphasizing that the complex includes a hospitality center with an information point and bar-restaurant services, a dedicated camper area with full facilities, and a tourist market where residents will produce and sell local products on-site. Agolli also explained that the project includes the construction of a retro-style hotel with around 22 rooms and the creation of integrated spaces for the local community.
Prime Minister Rama emphasized the importance of including local women in the management of the project and acknowledged their contributions to its success.
The project also plans to integrate surrounding homes and spaces into hospitality functions, such as guesthouses and traditional restaurants. This will create an authentic experience for visitors and generate direct income for the community.
“Retro Park” aims to become a model for tourism development in the area, increasing visitor interest and promoting the natural and cultural attractions of Bulqiza and the wider Dibra region.
