Minister Demo Highlights Technology’s Role in Strengthening Security and Improving Public Services

The “Future Tech 2026” fair was attended by Minister of Interior Ervin Demo, who emphasized the growing significance of technology in the services provided by the state to citizens and in public security.
“Despite the fact that Interior Ministers are not typically involved in such fairs, my attendance here serves as a testament to the significance of technology in the lives of citizens and the priority it holds for the ministry I lead,” Demo stated.
The minister emphasized that the State Police now incorporate technology into their operations by employing smart cameras, modern forensic laboratories, sophisticated systems, secure digital networks, and cybersecurity measures. These instruments are instrumental in enhancing public security and facilitating the provision of more efficient services to citizens.
Demo also emphasized the role of IdentiTek, a state-owned company that is responsible for the production and distribution of biometric documents, in his remarks. He emphasized that biometric identity is a critical component of the infrastructure of a contemporary state, as it is associated with the security of citizens’ interactions with public administration, institutions, and businesses, in addition to the documents they use for identification and travel.
Reliable identification systems are crucial for citizens as they facilitate identity verification and guaranty the security of transactions and services that necessitate identification. In accordance with the minister, IdentiTek’s accountability extends beyond document production to guaranty the system’s security, reliability, and adherence to the most stringent international standards.
Regarding the organization of “Future Tech 2026,” Demo underscored the significance of collaboration among entrepreneurs, universities, technology companies, the labor market, and emergent financing actors. He believes that this type of collaboration is indispensable for the sector’s sustainable growth and the generation of novel opportunities for future generations.
In summary, the minister expressed gratitude to the coordinators and participating businesses, emphasizing the connection between the country’s competitiveness and the quality of life of its citizens and the advancement of technology and innovation. Demo wished the participants a successful fair, stating, “Your success is Albania’s success.”
