Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla, together with his colleagues Mirela Kumbaro Furxhi, Minister of Tourism and Environment, and Albana Koçiu, Minister of Health and Social Protection, today signed a Joint Instruction, which legally regulates the issue of noise pollution in the country.
Balla said that he had personally received hundreds of messages from citizens complaining about fireworks, especially those set off at midnight by citizens celebrating birthdays or other family occasions.
He pointed out that Tirana has nearly 1 million inhabitants, and according to a rough estimate, there are on average 3,000 people celebrating a birthday, and if they all set off fireworks at midnight, the noise pollution would be unimaginable.
The Minister also emphasized that “the State Police, together with the Municipal Police, as authorities for the implementation of this order, will carry out controls on any source of noise, including those of fireworks”.
