The Minister of State for Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi, has started the consultation tour for the revision of the Laws “On Youth” and “On Volunteering”.
The first meeting was held in Kurbin, in the presence of mayor Majlinda Cara and a group of young people from Kurbin and the surrounding area. Then it continued in Shkodra with the Deputy Mayor and a group of young people willing to make proposals.
During these meetings, young people had the opportunity to present their recommendations and suggestions for the improvement of legislation concerning youth and volunteering.
In their discussions, young people emphasized the need to include student government representatives in the National Youth Council. They stressed that a fair representation of the youth community requires specific quotas for young people in conditions of marginalization and criteria for gender equality.
Regarding the law “On Volunteering”, young people were quite positive about volunteer programs of different durations, preferring those of one to three months. They emphasized the need for volunteers to have their personal expenses covered and for the period of volunteering to be recognized as a period of service and for study applications.
During the meeting, young people filled out surveys expressing their opinions on funding for volunteer projects and the best ways to get information about volunteer projects and initiatives.
The “Youth Changes Laws” tour aims to ensure that young people’s voices are heard and included in the process of revising laws that directly affect them, as Minister Muzhaqi has done in drafting the National Youth Strategy.
