Albania Celebrates Europe Day and Reaffirms Its Irreversible Path Toward the European Union
On Europe Day, a symbol of peace, cooperation, and unity among European nations, Albania reaffirms its European identity and aspirations.
At a time when the continent itself is facing challenges, May 9 serves as a powerful reminder of the values on which a united Europe was built and of the irreversible path that Albania has chosen toward the European Union.
In this context, Prime Minister Edi Rama attended an event organized by the European Union Delegation to Albania. Titled “Open Space,” the event was held as part of Europe Week. There, Prime Minister Rama conveyed the message that Albania’s European integration remains an unchanged national mission and an irreversible process built on reforms, the rule of law, and a strategic partnership with the European Union.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister praised Albania’s progress in the accession negotiations process, emphasizing that confidence in its advancement is directly linked to close cooperation with European institutions.
The Prime Minister then pointed out that justice reform and a commitment to strengthening the rule of law are concrete evidence of Albania’s determination to join the European Union.
He referred to Albania hosting the World Law Congress next year as international recognition of the country’s progress in strengthening democratic institutions and the rule of law.
In response to questions from the media present at the event regarding the negotiation process with the European Union, the Prime Minister stressed that Albania is following an ambitious calendar agreed upon with the European Commission to conclude the negotiations. He added that the path toward membership requires daily efforts, continuous reforms, and the concrete implementation of European standards across every sector.
Prime Minister Rama emphasized that Albania is in the final phase of its historic journey toward becoming a full member of the European family. He noted that integration into the European Union is the strongest guarantee of the country’s democracy, freedom, and sustainable development.
