Durrës Presented at ITB Berlin 2026 as a Destination Combining Sea and Cultural Heritage

As part of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sports’ participation in the ITB Berlin 2026 International Tourism Fair, Durrës is being presented as one of Albania’s main destinations on the international market.
The coastal city is being presented as a place that blends the potential of its long coastline with a rich historical and cultural heritage. It aims to establish itself as an authentic, sustainable Mediterranean alternative. In addition to its seaside attractions, Durrës is promoting its cultural assets, including the Roman Amphitheater, the Archaeological Museum, the Venetian Tower, and the Beauty of Durrës Mosaic.
Albania is participating in ITB Berlin 2026, which is being held from March 3 to March 5 and marks the event’s 60th anniversary this year. The country is represented by a stand designed by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sports in cooperation with the National Tourism Agency. Several municipalities, around 30 tour operators, and Albanian tourism businesses are also represented at the fair. Each year, ITB Berlin gathers tourism industry representatives from around the world and is considered one of the most important global events in the sector.
According to Blendi Gonxhja, the Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sports, the presentation aims to offer an experience that combines innovation, culture, natural beauty, and local traditions, thereby positioning Albania as an authentic Mediterranean destination.
The campaign highlights sustainable tourism models, such as mountain tourism in the Albanian Alps, coastal tourism along the Riviera, cultural tourism in historic cities, and rural and gastronomic tourism in villages across the country. Participation in ITB Berlin is an opportunity to promote Albania in a distinctive way in international markets beyond the traditional mass tourism model.
