Lushnje, the elementary school “Skënder Libohova” is reconstructed with contemporary standards.

On the eve of March 7th, the elementary school “Skënder Libohova” in Lushnje, the largest the elementary school in the city, opened its doors to its 700 pupils and teachers, with completely transformed infrastructure.

Rebuilt from the ground up with contemporary standards, thanks to state budget financing, the school offers optimal conditions with expanded capacities, a library, new laboratories, and modern sports facilities for its students.

Prime Minister Edi Rama was in Lushnjë today, where together with the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, and the Mayor of Lushnje, Eriselda Sefa, he stopped to visit the school’s new premises.

“This is the reconstructed school ‘Skënder Libohova’, which has a capacity of over 600-700 pupils, and thanks to the investment of the Ministry of Education and the municipality of Lushnjë, it has the highest standards, with additional classrooms,” Minister Manastirliu said, stating that the aim is for the school to become a community center.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Lushnje said that the new addition to the building, there is no more need for multi-shift teaching. “This school was built in 1960, and over the years it had received only a facelift, with no reconstruction whatsoever. Being the largest primary school, part of the teaching process was conducted in the afternoon, as the building did not meet the capacity requirements. With our new project, we have added 200 square meters to each floor, totaling 851 square meters per floor on this school.”

This year, through the school and sports field rehabilitation program of the Ministry of Education and Sports, local government authorities, together with the Reconstruction Program, will complete the construction and rehabilitation of 100 educational facilities throughout the country.
