Minister Ibrahimaj Announces Work on New Pension Reform, Highlights Importance of International Experience
Albania is working on a new pension reform, according to Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj, who also stressed the value of sharing international experience as the reform moves closer to completion. The remarks were delivered by her at the Technical Seminar of the European Network of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).
Representatives of social security organizations from the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Slovakia, Greece, Poland, the Czech Republic, Turkey, and other European nations gathered for the seminar, which took place in Tirana on September 16–17 under the theme “Strengthening Services in Pension Schemes: Meeting the Needs of Older People.”
ISSA Secretary General Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano, President of the ISSA European Network Yunus Elitaş, and other high-ranking officials and subject matter experts attended the event.
Minister Ibrahimaj expressed gratitude to the ISSA for choosing Tirana as the host city and emphasized that conversations between representatives of nations with various systems, cultures, and difficulties offer chances to share knowledge and discover fresh perspectives on pension policy.
Ibrahimaj also discussed the demographic, sociological, and economic issues that social security systems face, emphasizing the necessity of creating transparent, long-lasting systems that are simple for the general public to comprehend.
The seminar’s main goal was to enhance pension services by automating and digitizing procedures. The utilization of emerging technology, such as artificial intelligence, the creation of online pension calculators, and the significance of preserving human support for those in need of direct aid were all discussed.
The program also covered public education and communication regarding retirement planning, pensions, services for independent contractors and agricultural workers, and the management of cases with international components, such as insurance periods and pensions accrued in many nations.
Albania was represented in the technical discussions by representatives and experts from the Social Insurance Institute and the Ministry of Economy and Innovation. The symposium gave European social security organizations a forum to discuss creative methods to modernize pension systems and to share their experiences.
