Minister Nufi Announces Government Approval of Rewards for Firefighters and Gaza Mission Draft Act

Following the Council of Ministers meeting, Minister of Defence Ermal Nufi revealed that the government has approved a decision to award members of the Armed Forces and firefighting services for their efforts in combating the country’s wildfires.
According to the minister, the resolution permits local government entities to award rewards for the firefighting services under their authority, while also granting pay to all Armed Forces soldiers who engaged in firefighting operations.
Minister Nufi reported that more than 27 major fire outbreaks have been doused around the country, with over 1,380 individuals, 90 vehicles, and five helicopters involved in the operation. Currently, only the fire outbreak in Dajt remains active, where more than 120 personnel and two helicopters are operating. He praised the medals as a well-deserved appreciation of the military’ efforts and sacrifices on the ground.
The Council of Ministers also approved a draft legal act for Albania’s involvement in the international mission in Gaza, which will be submitted to Parliament for approval.
The minister announced that, in accordance with the mandates of the United Nations Security Council and the International Stabilization Force, Albania will initially contribute four staff officers. Following their deployment, the Armed Forces’ level of engagement will be evaluated, including the number of personnel and their placement within the operation.
