Defence Minister Niko Peleshi is attending the NATO Defence Ministerial in Brussels. During the Ministerial, Minister Peleshi had the opportunity to meet with his counterparts from NATO member countries.
The meeting with Slovenian Defence Minister Marjan Šarec focused on bilateral security and defense cooperation, as well as the intensification of relations within NATO and regional cooperation.
The two ministers signed the Agreement on Cooperation for Protection against Natural Disasters, an agreement that aims to regulate the legal framework for the most efficient cooperation in disaster prevention and preparedness, for the voluntary provision of mutual assistance in the event of disasters.
Minister Peleshi also held a meeting with the Swedish Minister of Defence, Pål Jonson, where the focus was on the initiation of concrete defense cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Peleshi proposed to Minister Jonson the signing of a bilateral security and defense agreement as a legal document that would serve as a basis for the most secure and concrete cooperation in the future.
During the meeting, the possibility of cooperation in the field of military industry was also discussed, as well as the assistance and support that Sweden can offer to our country, or the creation of some kind of cooperation with the well-known Swedish military industries.
