Minister Sala Says Diaspora Is an Irreplaceable Partner in Healthcare Reform at the 4th Diaspora Summit
Evis Sala, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, described the diaspora as an irreplaceable partner in reforming Albania’s healthcare system. She called for closer cooperation between professionals inside and outside the country.
During the “Diaspora and the Healthcare System” panel at the 4th Diaspora Summit in Tirana, Sala emphasized that building a modern healthcare system that aligns with European standards requires the contribution of Albanian expertise, regardless of its location. She added that healthcare reforms cannot be achieved without the diaspora’s active involvement and continuous exchange of experiences.
The minister emphasized that concrete bridges of cooperation have been established in recent years, particularly highlighting the remote contributions of specialist doctors, including those in oncology. These contributions have enabled patients in Albania to benefit from specialized services and examinations aligned with European protocols.
She added that the new healthcare system development model is based on cooperation and considered the summit an opportunity to strengthen professional ties and build a sustainable network of expertise.
In this context, Minister Sala called on Albanian professionals, both in Albania and abroad, to improve the quality of healthcare services and advance reforms. She stressed that cooperation and the exchange of best practices are key to developing the sector.
