Mother Teresa University Hospital Center Partners with Sheba Medical Center in Israel as Minister Koçiu Emphasizes Reform of Oncology Services

The University Hospital Center “Mother Teresa” has entered into a strategic partnership with Israel’s largest medical center, Sheba Medical Center, which will contribute to raising the standard of health care for Albanian citizens.

The cooperation agreement was signed at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in the presence of Albana Koçiu, Minister of Health and Social Protection, and Yitshak Kreiss, CEO of Sheba Medical Center.

Minister Koçiu noted that the relationship between the two organizations is based on supporting the reform of the oncology hospital’s services based on the world’s best management standards. “As a result of the agreement reached, experts from Sheba Medical Center will be connected to the Oncology Hospital to help our doctors treat complex situations in real time via telemedicine. Training and exposing our doctors and nurses to the latest treatments and technologies is another important agreement in this collaboration. “This cooperation between the esteemed Sheba Medical Center and Mother Teresa University Hospital Center is in line with the important initiative of dual practice for doctors and hospital autonomy,” said the Minister.

According to her, strengthening cooperation with such centers of excellence is a key element of the Hospital Autonomy Program, which has already been implemented in 6 hospitals in the country and is expected to expand to 17 centers.

“It is a great honor for us to be associated with a world-class hospital that is known for its excellence, professionalism, and innovation in patient care. However, we must continue to earn this right by continuously improving the quality of our services and seizing this fantastic opportunity for our medical staff, especially the younger generation of doctors. I therefore encourage them to seize this opportunity for training and cooperation with this institution, which treats two million patients a year worldwide and funds hundreds of clinical research projects and scientific studies,” said Albana Koçiu, Minister of Health and Social Protection.
