National Agriculture Support Scheme 2026 Sees Over 5,000 Applications on the First Day as Deadline Remains June 25
Applications for the 2026 National Agriculture Support Scheme opened on Monday (May 25), with strong interest from farmers from the very first hours. Andis Salla, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, revealed that over 5,000 farmers have already applied, and the application process would be open until June 25.
During a press conference, the minister emphasized that the National Scheme aims to increase support for farmers and expand access to benefits, particularly for small farms, by lowering minimum eligibility thresholds and providing access to 12 support measures. He noted that the number of applications continues to grow, reflecting the heightened interest in the scheme.
The National Scheme’s 2026 budget of 5.2 billion lekë aims to expand domestic output, promote formalization, and improve agricultural competitiveness by aligning support instruments with European Union models.
Minister Salla also announced that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is collaborating with 26 municipalities to form Agricultural Cooperation Societies, an organizational model aimed at lowering costs, increasing earnings, and expanding farmers’ access to markets and financing.
According to the minister, 334 farmers have already joined the effort, and the model will be extended to additional towns with high potential for agricultural production, processing, and trade. Based on methods used in European Union countries, the organization of farmers into Agricultural Cooperation Societies intends to cut production costs by 25-30%, reduce losses, and enhance access to support subsidies.
