NATO Cyber Defense Conference Highlights Albania’s Full Commitment to Strengthening Cybersecurity Cooperation

The third NATO Conference on Cyber Defense began today in Tirana. Delegations from the Alliance’s 32 member countries are participating, including representatives from foreign and defense ministries, as well as cyber ambassadors. The conference aims to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time cybersecurity and develop joint strategies for collective defense against constantly evolving cyber threats.
Prime Minister Rama addressed the conference and stated that Albania has successfully confronted cyberattacks and possesses one of the best cyber defense infrastructures among NATO countries, thanks in part to the integration of artificial intelligence.
“I am proud to say that we have one of the best cyber defense walls in the NATO alliance. This is not visionary thinking, but rather the most basic need for survival. Currently, we face an average of one cyberattack every three minutes, and we successfully repel them all. Of the attacks that leave traces, we have experienced 48 such incidents over the past year. Forty-eight of those left traces, but none caused significant damage. Therefore, when it comes to our state infrastructure, whether digital or physical, I proudly say that we are among the best. I believe this is because we were among the first to combine cyber defense with artificial intelligence. It is this artificial intelligence within our cyber defense wall that works 24/7 to detect potentially harmful attacks in their earliest stages,” informed the Prime Minister.
Regarding future cooperation, Prime Minister Rama invited other countries to join the newly formed organizations dedicated to strengthening cyber defense.
“When it comes to cybersecurity, it’s not wise to stand alone. On the contrary, it is an excellent idea to become part of the Center for Incident Response Support, a NATO initiative that unites countries to strengthen defense by sharing data, joint efforts, and infrastructure. This is essential,” said the prime minister, emphasizing that Albania was among the first countries to join.
