Olympic Festival brings together thousands of young people at Air Albania Stadium during presentation of 700 school sport teams across Albania

The Olympic Festival event at the Air Albania stadium in Tirana, the most beautiful sports event of the year in Albania that brought together more than 10,000 high school students from all over the country in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Festival School Sports Teams project.

Members of 700 schools sport teams from all over Albania performed and demonstrated their talent during this important sports event in the capital city of Tirana.

The event organized under the auspices of the Albanian Olympic Committee in the framework of the government-funded Olympic Festival School Sports Teams project aims at promoting and wide-spreading sport activities and disciplines for the young people in a bid to promote and encourage sports culture for a healthy and active life based on the Olympic principles.

The Schools Sports Teams project includes more than 10 000 pupils, 22 000 participants, 700 teams from 61 municipalities across Albania and 350 coaches.

Prime Minister Edi Rama joined the event, urging youngsters to turn sports into their lifestyle for a healthy body and mind.

“The best word one can utter today is Albania. So, let whole Albania hear it from you all: Albania! Albania! Albania!

This widespread movement that Albania has launched will definitely produce the champions who will raise Albanian flag high, will produce those who will honour their own selves, not only their parents, but entire Albanian nation. But, in the meantime, this is a movement for good health of everyone else. This is a healthy body and healthy mind movement. This is a movement to encourage everyone spend the leisure time together, engaging in sports, recreational and social activities, competing against each other and wining in the end. May you enjoy only victories!” the Premier said as he addressed to the young people attending the ceremony.

More than 10,000 nine-year school pupils, high school and university students all over the country will directly benefit from this project. As many as 700 school sport teams of both boys and girls teams have been founded to date and this project will further expand to create men and women basketball and volleyball teams of the higher education institutions across the country.
