Operation Against Illegal Constructions Brings Results as Minister Koçiu Vows Equal Enforcement of the Law

During its first week of implementation, the operation to enforce construction regulations in the Farka area produced tangible results, including demolitions, substantial fines, and criminal proceedings against individuals involved in violations.
According to official data, approximately 65 buildings, including villas and other structures, have been inspected thus far. A total of 2,736 square meters of illegal structures have been demolished, and fines exceeding one million euros have been imposed on the responsible parties. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against 18 individuals, including 13 inspectors suspected of abusing their office or failing to act in the face of violations.
Minister of the Interior Albana Koçiu emphasized that the operation will continue indefinitely to curb illegal construction and restore citizens’ trust in the rule of law.
“This operation will continue for as long as necessary to ensure that every euro invested by citizens translates into property of the promised quality, layout, and standards, and that every inch of seized land is returned to the community,” Koçiu stated.
This action is part of a broader national process aimed at protecting public spaces. The authorities announced that they will extend inspections to other areas of the country where illegal constructions have been identified.
