OSHEE Charge Launches as Albania’s New Public Service for Clean-Energy Electric Vehicle Charging

Today, Prime Minister Edi Rama and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku presented the new national project, “OSHEE Charge,” which will begin building a public charging network for electric vehicles in Albania. The project aims to support the transition toward sustainable transportation and reduce pollution by providing renewable energy-powered charging stations in strategic areas.
The first station will be built at the entrance to Tirana along the TEG–Farkë segment. It will have 10 fast-charging units, which can charge up to 20 vehicles in 10 minutes. The goal is to expand the network beyond Tirana to cover tourist corridors and urban areas lacking charging infrastructure.
Balluku stated that the service will offer competitive prices and energy produced entirely from renewable sources as part of the green transition in transportation and in alignment with the European Union’s objectives. She noted that the current charging market is unregulated and expensive due to the lack of a unified framework for energy resale.
The minister added that ongoing priorities include finalizing the National Energy and Climate Plan, fully liberalizing the energy market, and increasing renewable energy production via transparent auctions.
The “OSHEE Charge” initiative is seen as a step toward establishing a national charging network that will support electric transportation and improve air quality in cities.
