PABSEC, Minister Hasani: Multilateral cooperation crucial for the region’s development

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, emphasized that the parliamentary dimension of the BSEC should play a primary role in cooperation not only among parliaments but also among the societies of the member countries.

At the 63rd meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), Minister Hasani stated that the fruitful coordination between the Albanian presidency of the BSEC and the Parliamentary Assembly had become a catalyst for outlining and discussing a spectrum of issues of wide resonance.

“The motto of the Albanian presidency of the BSEC ‘United for peaceful cooperation in the Black Sea region’ contains a profound meaning and reflects the conviction that multilateral cooperation is crucial for a more efficient economic, political, and social interaction among the member countries,” he said.

Regarding the situation of Russian aggression in Ukraine, the Albanian Foreign Minister emphasized that Albania’s stance is not only in coordination with the EU countries but also with the BSEC’s map.

“We support the European Commission and encourage it to, alongside the negotiations for the integration of Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia, promote and advance the EU integration process for Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia” Minister Hasani said.

Albania took over the six-month presidency of the BSEC at the beginning of 2024.

Albania’s presidency will lead cooperation to a more sustainable economic and social terrain. The Albanian presidency has worked comprehensively with the BSEC member states to achieve significant results for our common challenges through common, coordinated, and inclusive measures.
