Rama-Manastirliu in Athens: Financial Support Program for Albanian Language Teachers in Greece Begins

Athens, March 2— Prime Minister Edi Rama and Education and Sports Minister Ogerta Manastirliu met with Albanian teachers in Greece to launch the first financial support program for the first 50 Albanian language teachers in Greece.
“This is just the beginning, the first group of swallows that will announce the Albanian language in Greece this spring, and our ambition is to increase this number so that no area is left uncovered by Albanian language teachers,” said Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Ogerta Manastirliu, Minister of Education and Sports, has announced that today will be the signing of the first 50 teacher contracts in Greece.
“The Albanian government’s ‘Teachers for Albania’ program was officially launched today with the signing of contracts for the first 50 Albanian teachers in Greece. This is just the first phase of the program. We hope to expand it to other countries so that the second and third generations of Albanians in the diaspora can preserve their language and also integrate more easily if they decide to return to Albania,” Manastirliu said.
For the first time, the state will pay volunteer Albanian language teachers to teach the Albanian language in Greece.
The Minister of Education and Sports stated, “A core of professional, licensed teachers will be formed to teach the Albanian language to children from the Albanian community in Greece using a unified program, curriculum, and textbooks provided free of charge by the Albanian government through the Ministry of Education and Sports.
