Second Innovation Forum: Albania Advances Its Technology and Innovation Ecosystem

Despite people’ widespread access to digital services, just 9% of Albanian businesses use artificial intelligence.
Prime Minister Edi Rama was present at the Second Innovation Forum, where Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj emphasized the need for increased use of technology and artificial intelligence in the private sector as a chance to close the productivity gap with the average for the European Union and give the Albanian economy new competitive advantages. At the moment, Albania’s economic productivity is about one-third that of the EU.
Approximately 80% of jobs, 78% of economic value added, and 99.8% of firms in the nation are small and medium-sized, according to Minister Ibrahimaj. Given their substantial contribution to the nation’s economy and employment, it is especially crucial that these companies increase their use of innovative technologies.
The minister claims that the quick advancements in AI are altering the market’s demands for professional abilities as well as the production and delivery of goods and services. In this sense, Albania wants to create a new economic ecosystem that is driven by innovation and technology by developing infrastructure, funding, and people resources, as well as by enhancing collaboration between organizations, companies, and sector stakeholders.
The expansion of Albania’s technology sector and artificial intelligence were the main topics of discussion at the Second Innovation Forum, which took place in Tirana. Other topics discussed included market access and the internationalization of Albanian technological products.
