Teacher Professional Development Program in Korçë Launches Second Phase, Including PISA Test Models

Ogerta Manastirliu, Minister of Education and Sports, traveled to Korçë to closely monitor the second phase of the National Teacher Professional Development Program, which aims to improve teachers’ skills in science, elementary education, information technology, and the Albanian language.

Minister Manastirliu emphasized the importance of this program for the professional preparation of teachers in accordance with the current needs and those of the students.
“The second phase of the National Teacher Professional Development Program has begun, starting with the new academic year. During the 2024-2025 academic year, more than 16,000 teachers will receive training in information technology, primary education, science, and the Albanian language.”

In order to ensure that our teachers receive the best possible training to meet the demands of the modern education system, the University of Korçë will provide teacher training in Kolonjë, Maliq, Përrenjas, Korçë-Pustec, Pogradec, and Devoll.

“The implementation of the program will be carried out by a large team of 166 pedagogues. In Korçë alone, about 1,800 teachers will be trained by the end of the second phase,” Manastirliu added.

The Minister appreciated the efforts to enhance the professional capacities of teachers in this region, while emphasizing that this program focuses not only on improving knowledge but also on adapting teaching methods to international standards.

“We are committed to ensuring that the training program includes both the PISA test models and the professional development plan for teachers. We want to help teachers better prepare students for the difficulties of the world. ”

This program is part of a long-term strategy to improve the quality of education in Albania, with the goal of equipping every teacher with the best knowledge and skills to increase student success in line with European standards.
