The Hague, Netherlands – NATO Summit: United for a Safer World

The NATO Summit is being held this year for the first time in the Netherlands, in The Hague, bringing together heads of state and government from across the Alliance.
Prime Minister Edi Rama is leading Albania’s delegation, joined by Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani, Minister of Defense Pirro Vengu, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Arben Kingji, and other senior officials.
During the summit, Prime Minister Rama met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Their discussion focused on the summit’s key priorities, developments in the Western Balkans, the strategic investment in the New Port of Durrës—where NATO will play a key role in the military terminal—and preparations for the 2027 NATO Summit to be hosted in Tirana.
At the summit, NATO leaders will address a range of challenges facing the Alliance. They will focus on deterrence and defense, ensuring that NATO has the resources, forces, and capabilities needed to respond to any threat.
Strengthening partnerships will remain a key priority for the Alliance, with the Summit providing an opportunity to engage with Ukraine, NATO’s partners, and the leadership of the European Union.
This week, the Allies will adopt a new defense investment plan, agreeing on a joint effort to boost the defense industry across NATO—enhancing security while also creating jobs.
