Tirana Moons,” the Green Oasis Dedicated to Books, Installed at “Mother Teresa” Square
“Tirana Moons,” a green oasis devoted to books, has been installed in Mother Teresa Square, offering citizens a highly engaging public space that sparks the curiosity of book lovers and beyond.
Architect Chris Precht, the creator of the work, explained that the space is an evolving library and invited citizens to enrich it with books, along with their personal notes. “It is a library that continues to grow. I invite you to bring a book—one that inspires you—leave a personal note, something that might inspire someone else. A library by the people, for the people,” he said.
Prime Minister Edi Rama was among its visitors this evening: ‘’Well, thank you, Chris, thank you very much, and thank you to everybody for being here after a long, beautiful day.
It was a privilege to be part of this, and it’s a pleasure to be here also and to share with all of you this moment that is very important for Chris, apparently, because he was obsessed about bringing the moon to Albania instead of sending Albanians to the moon, and here we are.
This, I believe, is a bit our serpentine because it will stay here for a while and then will move somewhere else.
While here, we want to move forward with a bigger, massive project that will also put the space in the disposal of the city for underground parking, but not only, and we are preparing a very beautiful project.
Let’s see how it comes out, and in the meantime, I think there is something interesting to be decoded because every time international architects gather in these numbers in the city, Albania has to play a football game. So this is something that, I don’t know how it happens, but hopefully you will bring some luck today to our team that is playing abroad tonight.
Thank you very much for the books, and please bring more books. It’s very, very nice to have not just books, but books that are donated by people that want to give something for their own pleasure.
A big thank you to everyone that contributed to the building of that. Chris told me that he found some wood masters in Albania, which apparently was a big surprise. But in Albania you find everything. It’s just a matter of when, because sometimes you find them when you don’t need them, and when you need them you don’t find them, but otherwise they are all here. It’s just a matter of circumstances being the right ones.
So thank you again, and it sounds very beautiful. Enjoy, and see you all tomorrow for the continuation of this very special weekend.
Thank you.’’
