Two important infrastructure projects to complete Durres urban transformation

The mosaic of the urban transformation of Durres will be finalized through two more important projects on key areas with a direct impact on the daily life of local residents in the coastal city.

Construction of a six-storey car park in the area adjacent to the Train Station in the city of Durres is one of the projects with construction work most recently underway. The multi-storey car park project covers a floor area of around 15,000 square meters and it combines a 450-space parking garage with special space designed to host various events. Located somewhere between the city’s train station, the seaport and the interurban bus terminal, as well as close to the access points to national roads, the new car parking lot will help development of the surrounding area. The multi-storey solar-powered car park is scheduled to complete within a year.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, as part of his visit to Durres today, inspected the ongoing work on construction of the public parking lot. Accompanying PM Rama, Durres Mayor Emiriana Sako said  that “the project is very important for Durres, as it is practically located at the city’s entrance and adjacent to the port and the train station. The project represents one of the initial measures to address the road traffic in the coastal city of Durres.”

The big urban park “Vala” is the newest project on construction of sports grounds and recreational facilities for kids and adults. The new recreational park is being constructed on a site previously littered by trash and used as an illegal park area.
