Prime Minister Rama met today with employees of the Prime Minister’s Office, many of whom have contributed to this institution for several decades, to inform them on the government’s plan to increase the public administration wages.
* * *
I wanted to greet you and break the news in person, because it’s been so many years now that we’ve been working together, it’s been so many years that you all contribute with dedication and at irregular hours and I am convinced that you’ve deserved it for a long time actually, but the opportunity to render it possible has come only now.
You know very well how many setbacks we had to overcome and how much work we had to do to build this base and to tell you that now the time has come to raise salaries significantly.
In order to have an idea of the significance, I have taken here some concrete cases, availing myself of the opportunity to also thank with profound gratitude some of you who are legends of this institution and I would like them to help me, coming here a little closer, one step higher of course and thus we are on a par;
Monika, who has been the director of the unit for 26 years on end, then Rezari, who is a lawyer in the department and has been here for 37 years, then Vjollca, the chief of sector. Vjollca is a step higher because she is here since 43 years.
Then Zenajda, who is chief of sector. Zenajda has been in service for 28 years. Then Luljeta, who is a specialist. Luljeta holds all the secrets of the government, because she has been here for 41 years, but you haven’t seen anything yet because it is also Nexhmije, who has been since 44 years.
Now let’s take it in turn, the salary increase will follow two steps in the span of one year.
We will start now and will add the rest to next year’s budget and then it will continue. Meanwhile, due to the minimum wage that we have increased, the corrections will start from top to bottom and I am starting from the bottom up to say how much the salary of Luljeta and Nexhmije will be in the end.
Luljeta’s salary will be 135,000 lek and Nexhmija’s salary will jump to 125,000 lek.
Then Zenajda, who is chief of sector will receive a salary of 158,000 lek. Then Vjollca, who is chief of sector will get paid 149,000 lek. Then Rezari 218,000 lek, Monika 249,000 lek. Don’t take these 49, 48, 19 completely for granted that they can move little by little, but if they move, they will move for more, not for less because the calculations are being done, but this is the salary increase that will apply to the whole administration and you according to the positions, now based on what you heard bear in mind that there will be more or less your salary according to the categories.
And bear in mind that if it took a relatively long time for the ladies here to finally get a fully decent salary for all the hard work they do, for you young people if you work like them, you can’t work like them, but at least if you work half what they do you will get more because in the end we are working for you young people.
That was Breaking News for today. Now dive into the work!
