Deputy Prime Minister Koçiu and Minister Demo Commit to Accelerating Reconstruction in Kombinat

The government will provide state budget funding to accelerate the reconstruction process in Tirana. In Kombinat, efforts are underway to distribute completed apartments and open new construction sites.
During a visit to Administrative Unit 6, Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu and Minister of the Interior Ervin Demo called for procedures to be expedited and for coordination between the government and the Municipality of Tirana to be strengthened in order to complete the reconstruction process.
Regarding reconstruction progress, Koçiu said that more than 340 apartments have been allocated to earthquake-affected families, and around 650 families are receiving rent subsidies while waiting to move into their new homes.
Around 150 apartments have been built in Kombinat, 75 of which are awaiting the lottery process. Infrastructure works related to water supply and sewage are continuing for another group of apartments before they can be allocated. At another construction site, where the procurement process is complete, 223 new apartments are expected to be built. Procedures have also begun for an additional 100 apartments.
Minister Demo said the central government will allocate state budget funds to accelerate reconstruction in Tirana alongside municipality-financed projects.
According to Demo, the intervention will focus on making available the already-built apartments as quickly as possible. This includes resolving issues related to electricity and water supply connections and preparing new construction sites for families who are still waiting for housing. He added that the goal is to initiate the first construction procedures for new sites this year, financed by the government through the Albanian Development Fund.
