Albania Signs UN Convention Against Cybercrime
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha signed the UN Convention Against Cybercrime on behalf of Albania in New York during the High-Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly.
The signing of the agreement serves to reinforce Albania’s dedication to enhanced international collaboration in the prevention and suppression of cybercrime, a menace that is increasingly detrimental to public institutions, businesses, and citizens. The Convention establishes a shared framework for state cooperation, which includes the facilitation of the exchange of electronic evidence and the reinforcement of efforts to investigate and prosecute severe crimes in the digital realm.
Minister Hoxha underscored the significance of security, resilience, and trust in the digital realm as essential elements of the national digital transformation agenda. He underscored the necessity of balancing the opportunities generated by technological advancements with the protection of citizens and institutions.
In order to foster a digital environment that is more trustworthy and secure for all, Albania will persist in its collaboration with international partners.
