Deputy Prime Minister Koçiu Announces Doubled Payments for Children with Disabilities and Social Contributions for Over 14,000 Caregivers
Since August, payments for 10,720 children with disabilities, including blind children, up to the age of 18 have doubled. Starting October 1, social and health insurance contributions will be covered for 14,657 caregivers and personal assistants.
During a meeting with parents at the Multifunctional Center in Lezhë, Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu announced these measures, emphasizing that supporting children with disabilities and their families is part of the government’s social policy.
Paying social and health insurance contributions will allow caregivers and personal assistants to receive benefits from the insurance scheme, such as eligibility for pensions and support in cases of temporary incapacity for work.
In addition to financial support, the network of social services is expanding to all 61 municipalities in the country. The number of services has grown from 83 a year and a half ago to 98 today, with over 800 professionals from various fields providing them. The Social Fund is supporting the addition of professionals to social centers and efforts to improve the quality of services for children and families.
