Minister Ibrahimaj Says Diaspora Is a Key Partner for Economic Development and Innovation at the 4th Diaspora Summit
Delina Ibrahimaj, the Minister of Economy and Innovation, described the diaspora as a key partner in promoting economic development and innovation in Albania. She emphasized that the country is at an important stage of growth with untapped potential.
During the “Diaspora as a Partner in Business and Innovation” panel at the 4th Diaspora Summit, Ibrahimaj emphasized that increased investment has driven economic development and that the diaspora’s contribution is particularly valuable due to its experience and expertise from abroad.
Minister Ibrahimaj noted that the government has taken concrete steps to involve the diaspora in economic development. These steps include creating a dedicated innovation fund to support entrepreneurship and the internationalization of diaspora-linked businesses.
The minister also highlighted the growing interest of the diaspora in innovation and startups, pointing to an increasing trend of Albanians living abroad applying for support programs.
She stated that tourism remains one of the fastest-growing sectors in recent years thanks to favorable policies and an attractive investment climate.
Energy, particularly renewable and green energy, represents another priority for attracting foreign and diaspora investments.
Minister Ibrahimaj added that future summits are expected to deliver more concrete results in integrating the diaspora into the country’s economic development thanks to a clear action plan.
