Minister Kumbaro Outlines Preparations and New Initiatives for the New School Year, “After School” Program to Expand to More Than 400 Educational Institutions

In order to prepare for the 2026–2027 academic year, which starts on September 14, Minister of Education Mirela Kumbaro met with the leaders of pre-university education institutes nationwide.
Measures to guaranty the smooth operation of the educational process, school infrastructure and safety, the introduction of new curricula, the development of inviting settings for students, and improved communication with parents and educational communities were the main topics of discussion.
The opening of 42 brand-new educational facilities and sports complexes with state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities is another aspect of preparations for the upcoming academic year.
Additionally, new curriculum for grades 1, 6, and 10 will be introduced during the 2026–2027 school year, and students in grades 1 through 5 will receive new textbooks for free. Additionally, schools will keep enforcing the rule prohibiting cell phones.
The “After School” program’s extension to over 400 educational institutions is another recent endeavor. Through social, creative, athletic, handicraft, and other activities created in collaboration with the community, the program seeks to enhance students’ educational experience outside of scheduled class times.
In the meantime, first- and tenth-grade enrollment is in its second phase. August 24 is when the procedure started, and it will continue until September 7.
