Prime Minister Edi Rama at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026

Prime Minister Edi Rama participated today in the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026, which is being held with the participation of heads of state and government, international financial institutions, business representatives, and civil society organizations from around the world.

The conference aims to strengthen international support for Ukraine and to mobilize investments for the country’s reconstruction and long-term development. Its proceedings will focus on the sectors most affected by the Russian aggression, including energy, critical infrastructure, and logistics, as well as on strengthening security and defense capacities, considered essential for the reconstruction process.

At the second plenary session of the Conference, Prime Minister Edi Rama delivered his remarks:

Prime minister Edi Rama: I’m sure that the best contribution you are expecting from me is a short speech and I will deliver.

So, the notion of this gathering I believe is very simple: if reconstruction waits for the last shot to be fired, it will be already too late. And that is why we are here today. Meanwhile, Ukraine is already rebuilding while defending itself.

This is a great meaning of this conference and Albania is here with a very simple conviction: Ukraine must secure the peace with the same determination with which it is defending its freedom.

On the other hand, we also see Ukraine reconstruction and the Western Balkans European integration as mutually reinforcing. Both are about completing Europe, strengthening resilience and reducing strategic value.

Of course, reconstruction is not charity, it is strategy. It is not only about repairing what has been destroyed, but also about building a Ukraine that is democratic, European, modern and resilient and showing that the whole Europe is capable to do so.

So, in conclusion of my quick speech that I’m sure you appreciate, Ukraine is rebuilding Europe’s courage, Europe must help rebuild Ukraine’s future.

Thank you so much!
