The Ministry of Interior is carrying out the consultation of the National Migration Strategy and Action Plan 2024-2030. At the panel where many actors participated, the Minister of the Interior Taulant Balla said that migration is a complex phenomenon that affects and influences a number of aspects of the country’s social and economic development.
By fulfilling one of the obligations of the EU accession process, Albania has taken measures to significantly reduce the flows of irregular emigration and asylum seeking by Albanian citizens in the countries of the European Union and the United Kingdom, has established institutions with better capacities, as well as increased the reception capacities for irregular foreigners.
“The ‘screening’ process report explicitly defines the obligation for drafting the new National Migration Strategy and Action Plan, which is being fulfilled as we speak, as it defines the need for more human resources, attention and increased capacities for the treatment of unaccompanied minors, better information at the local level, prevention of irregular migration from Albania to the EU, reintegration of returned migrants and other issues,” emphasized Balla.
