Minister Mete meets with the President of the Lombardy Region, expansion of cooperation and Italian investments in Albania

The Minister of Finance, Mr. Ervin Mete, received in a meeting the President of the Lombardy Region in Italy, Mr. Attilio Fontana, and the accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the economic cooperation between Albania and Italy, in particular with the Region of Lombardy, was discussed along with the possibility of further increasing Italian investments in our country.

Minister Mete appreciated the very good economic and commercial relations between the two countries and expressed his commitment to further deepen them.

The Minister said that Albania offers investment opportunities in many sectors, such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and especially in tourism, which had a very good performance last year, becoming one of the most attractive areas for investment.

Minister Mete also expressed his gratitude for the continuous support and proactive role of Italy in supporting the integration of Albania into the European Union.

For his part, the President of the Lombardy Region expressed his interest in deepening the economic cooperation with Albania, considering our country attractive for Italian companies to expand their economic activities.

Referring to the data, the total volume of trade between Italy and Albania for 2023 is 3.5 billion euros. For the year 2023, Italy ranks fourth in terms of the stock of foreign investments in our country, with an upward trend in recent years. Currently, there are about 5,767 active Italian companies in Albania, with joint or fully Italian capital.
