Albania and Ukraine sign Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation

The Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Albania was signed today by Prime Minister Edi Rama and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the framework of the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit and the visit by the Ukrainian President to Tirana.

The Treaty will help Ukraine and Albania to further consolidate friendship between the two countries and people through enhanced mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.

At the start of the signing ceremony, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the Order of Yaroslav the Wise to Prime Minister Edi Rama for his significant contribution and support for Ukraine.

Since the very beginning, Albania has joined the countries supporting Ukraine against Russia’s invasion. Albania has played a key role in garnering diplomatic support for Ukraine at the United Nations Security Council, putting emphasis on the need for effective multilateral action as the best way to tackle common problems, in particular, peace and security. Albania was among the first countries offering shelter to Ukrainian refugees. It has joined international sanctions against Russian officials and institutions.
