“During the interpellation for the support of students of priority branches with a payment equal to the minimum wage, Manastirliu said that the government finances 1.5 million euros every year for students of priority branches.
The Minister of Education and Sport, Ogerta Manastirliu, said in her speech to the Parliament that the historic increase in teachers’ salaries to an average of 950 euros will be a factor influencing young people to choose to study to become teachers.
“From 1 July, the salary increase for our teachers will begin, of course, the salary increase as a historic increase takes us to a new level. It increases the dignity of the teacher, it increases motivation, and on the other hand it will also increase the interest of young people, the interest of graduates to choose the teaching profession,” said Minister Manastirliu.
During the interpellation for the support of students of priority branches with the payment of the minimum wage, 40 thousand new ALL, Minister Manastirliu said that this is an incentive for students towards those branches which are necessary for the labour market, such as teaching, science, agriculture or specific engineering.
“According to the approved annual budget, the estimated budget for priority scholarships is around 1.5 million euros. I don’t think you think it’s a small amount to support 334 students in priority sectors. I don’t think you think it’s a little to support with 1.5 million euros a year and cumulatively over 5 years over 6 million euros going to support priority quotas plus zero fees. Today we have 334 students studying in these branches and in the next 3 years they will go where the country needs them,” said Minister Manastirliu.
Minister Manastirliu said that the list of priority programs will be reviewed, highlighting the areas of basic priority, in order to make the programme more targeted, in order to meet the needs and requirements imposed by time and development.
