Police officers will receive more money during the tourist season for meals and overtime

Following the government’s adoption of the Normative Act, State Police employees will receive food compensation and reimbursements for extra hours worked during the season beginning in 2024.

The approved Act covers the financial impact of additional hours worked by police officers during the tourist season. Furthermore, the amendments to the Normative Act cover the financial effect of compensation throughout the entire 2024 budget year.

In a statement released following the government meeting, the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, indicated that the Ministry of the Interior had been allocated an additional 1.3 billion ALL for the provision of food compensation for police personnel, in addition to overtime payments that *they’ll be receiving during the tourist season.

The fulfillment of this pledge to police officers follows the implementation of salary increases and life insurance, as well as initiatives aimed at enhancing their performance.

The amendments to the state budget for 2024, reflected in this Normative Act, are a consequence of the growth in the overall performance of the Albanian economy and the turnover in revenues from tax agencies, customs, and other sources.
