The school “16 Shtatori” now has a new laboratory, as part of an expansion of 654 intelligent laboratories in the schools

Today, Ogerta Manastirliu, the Minister of Education and Sports was at the middle school “16 Shtatori” in Pezë, one of the 300 schools equipped with smart laboratories.

Minister Ogerta Manastirliu emphasized the importance of the digital transformation of schools and preparing students to face the challenges of a rapidly modernizing society.
“Our focus is on the investments we are making in SMART labs in schools, starting from the first grade, the technology and information curriculum, including the CodeMonkey platform, which is already used by about 35,000 students across the country thanks to the investments we have made. There are 300 schools equipped with SMART labs. Just this year, we installed and created these very child-friendly environments in 216 labs, which are now not only functional, but through the training of teachers and school leaders, it is much easier to organize the entire curriculum, which is revised year after year,” said Manastirliu.
The new SMART lab at the “16 Shtatori” school is equipped with the necessary infrastructure, including 13 laptops, and will help 185 students and teachers at the school develop technological literacy, preparing students for an increasingly technology-oriented world. The investment in schools includes not only the provision of SMART labs, but also the preparation of teachers to use technology effectively, helping to improve the quality of education in Albania.

“We have a new curriculum from first to third grade workbooks for which you have already been trained, but on the other hand, the entire curriculum of technology, information and communication from first to twelfth grade will continue to transform. This transformation has a focus on aspects related to technology and also on activities that need to provide knowledge and equip students regarding daily activities and how technology or the digital world helps improve their skills and face all challenges and also prepare for the future,” said Minister Ogerta Manastirliu.

The SMART Laboratories project is more ambitious, continuing the investment of the Albanian government.

“Our goal is for all schools to be equipped with SMART labs, so the focus of the Albanian government is to increase investments in technology and innovation in schools. We are working so that from next year, 2025, an additional 654 SMART labs will be added to the network of our schools. This will ensure not only the improvement of technology, but also the integration of technology in other subjects, such as science and foreign languages, all of which are very important to improve skills and bring schools to modern parameters, and also to integrate technology and innovation in other subjects,” said Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu.
