Albania will host the International nanoBallkan 2024 Conference, the second edition of this major event, which will bring together 250 scientists and high-level professionals from around the world to present the latest achievements in nanoscience and nanotechnology.
For three years in a row, Albania has hosted conferences on the progress of nanotechnology, providing numerous opportunities for scientific and professional cooperation. Ogerta Manastirliu, Minister of Education and Sports, welcomed the organizers and guests in her speech and emphasized the importance of the conference for Albania. She emphasized the government’s support for the development of scientific research, laboratory infrastructure and the growth of academic cooperation, citing the participation of Albanian scientists abroad as a significant asset for the advancement of science in the country.
“More than 600 professors and researchers from our universities have applied for scientific research funding for projects and research infrastructure in recent years, marking an increase in the number of scientists seeking support for scientific development initiatives. To promote open science and the scientific ecosystem, we need to increase our support. The National Strategy for Scientific Research and Innovation was approved almost a year ago and its implementation has started since then,” said Minister Manastirliu.
Minister Manastirliu made the following comments on the new science law “The adoption of the Law on Science and Scientific Research comes at a critical juncture, as it opens new avenues for scientific progress in accordance with the requirements of the European Research Area. The standards necessary to advance science to European levels will be raised by this law, which opens the door to greater national and international cooperation in the fields of science and scientific research. It goes beyond the confines of universities to other organizations that can make a greater contribution to scientific research, such as industry, technology parks, technology transfer centers, and various institutes. These organizations are supported and funded by both domestic and foreign resources.
The Academy of Sciences of Albania and nanoAlb are sponsoring the nanoBallkan2024 conference, which gives Albanian and foreign scientists the opportunity to share experiences and establish collaborative links.
The four-day conference will foster a cooperative environment for the development of nanoscience and nanotechnology, a discipline that has enormous potential to make a broad contribution to a number of fields, such as environmental protection, food safety and health.
