Annual Meeting of the Albania-UN Joint Executive Committee

Minister Blendi Gonxhja, with Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, Ministers Ogerta Manastirliu, Mirela Kumbaro, Petrit Malaj, and Ervin Hoxha, and UN agencies led by Fiona McCluney, Head of the UN Mission in Albania, held the annual meeting of the Albania-UN Joint Executive Committee. The meeting reviewed the annual performance of joint projects for 2024 and outlined plans for the coming year and beyond.

Key achievements highlighted by the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation included:

  • Implementation of the National Strategy for Employment and Skills 2023-2030 with 16 priority actions.
  • Integration of the dual education system in 8 vocational schools, linking theory with business practice.
  • Youth Guarantee Program: 1,500 young people supported, with 800 employed or trained.
  • Improvements in occupational health and safety.
  • Creation of a dedicated structure for innovation and promotion of innovative activities.
  • Labor market analysis and support for sectors such as ICT, tourism, and hospitality.
  • Modernization of the customs system, reduction of processing times, and extension of the CEFTA green corridors.
  • Development of the new Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance Strategy 2024-2030.

Economic growth, the advancement of European integration initiatives, and the development of human capital have all advanced significantly with the help of international partners.
