Fier’s ‘Blue 1’ Photovoltaic Park with 50 MW Capacity Fully Operational for Solar Energy Production

The “Blue 1” photovoltaic park in Fier, with a capacity of 50 MW, has been fully operational since last May, as part of the government’s initiatives to diversify renewable energy sources.
This region has significant amounts of solar radiation, making it an ideal location for solar energy generation.
“Blue 1” is the largest private photovoltaic plant in the region, covering an area of 78 hectares and equipped with state-of-the-art solar technology, including bifacial dual-glass monocrystalline panels (665W) and single-axis trackers that allow the panels to follow the sun as it moves from east to west.
Since its commissioning in May 2024, the plant has successfully added 77,000 MWh to the grid. The producer sells the energy produced on the open market.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, who is in Fier, visited the park to check on the plant’s progress with Belinda Balluku, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy.
“We’ve arrived at the “Blue 1″ park, a project financed by private investors with a capacity of 50 MW, spread over 78 hectares and scheduled to be fully operational in May 2024. Since 2024, it has produced 77,000 megawatt-hours. It is one of the largest self-financed solar power projects in the region and has served as a model for the entire Albanian energy sector. Following this project, we have received numerous other applications, some of which have been accepted, and a significant amount is currently under construction.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister, we would like to remind everyone of the Republic of Albania’s commitment to expand renewable energy capacity through energy efficiency measures. Therefore, we would like to inform all citizens that the second round of applications for solar panels has started. We have 2,000 units available, and given the success of the first call, we hope that these 2,000 units will be used by citizens as soon as possible to heat water and reduce their expenses by 20-30%,” said Belinda Balluku, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy.
“Blue 1” has established important alliances and agreements with major participants in the regional and international energy markets, thus increasing market access.
