Minister Koçiu takes two children from the “Zyber Hallulli” Children’s Home to their first grade class

Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, began her day with the children from the “Zyber Hallulli” orphanage, wishing them a successful school year. Minister Koçiu accompanied Anjeza and Muhamet to the “Osman Myderizi” school in Tirana, where they began their first day of school.

Koçiu emphasized that the Ministry of Health and Social Protection’s primary focus is on school reintegration, as well as social protection and assistance for every child in need at all times.

During her visit to the “Osman Myderizi” school, Minister Koçiu also extended her best wishes to all students, teachers, and parents for a successful year ahead.

Albana Koçiu highlighted the continuous commitment of her institution to ensure that children grow up in a family environment, fostering their well-being, development, and full participation in society. This school year, all children will benefit from the Ministry’s National Programs for vision screening and dental care, with 600,642 children having received these services to date.

The Ministry has facilitated the opening of 154 dental cabinets in schools to detect early dental issues among students. Approximately 208 dentists will provide free services to 213,097 children nationwide, ensuring that every child has access to dental care.

For the first time this year, the Ministry has included a National Program for Scoliosis Screening for children aged 6–10. The government has provided around 3,500 scholarships to support students with special social and economic needs, including those from Roma and Egyptian communities. During this school year, 850 psychologists and social workers will offer psychological counseling and social care in schools across the country.
